Grand Canyon @ Arizona State
Current Records: Grand Canyon 8-1; Arizona State 3-6
What to Know
The Arizona State Sun Devils will take on the Grand Canyon Antelopes at 9:30 p.m. ET on Thursday at Desert Financial Arena. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
The Oregon Ducks typically have all the answers at home, but on Sunday the Sun Devils proved too difficult a challenge. ASU came out on top in a nail-biter against Oregon, sneaking past 69-67. ASU’s guard DJ Horne filled up the stat sheet, picking up 23 points along with six boards. Horne’s performance made up for a slower game against the Washington State Cougars last week. Horne’s points were the most he has had all year.
Meanwhile, Grand Canyon was completely in charge on Saturday, breezing past the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 91-44 at home.
ASU is the favorite in this one, with an expected 3.5-point margin of victory. Those who got lucky with them against the spread on Sunday might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
The wins brought the Sun Devils up to 3-6 and the Antelopes to 8-1. A couple stats to keep an eye on: ASU is 39th worst in college basketball in points per game, with only 64.4 on average. Grand Canyon’s defense has more to brag about, as they they rank 21st in college basketball when it comes to points allowed per game, with only 58.4 on average. Maybe that strength will give Grand Canyon the oomph they need to beat the odds.
