Alcorn State @ Tulsa
Current Records: Alcorn State 1-8; Tulsa 5-5
What to Know
The Alcorn State Braves’ road trip will continue as they head to Donald Reynolds Center at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday to face off against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Tulsa will be strutting in after a win while the Braves will be stumbling in from a loss.
Alcorn State received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 82-63 to the Wichita State Shockers. A silver lining for Alcorn State was the play of forward Darrious Agnew, who had 14 points in addition to seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, things were close when Tulsa and the Southern Illinois Salukis clashed on Saturday, but Tulsa ultimately edged out the opposition 69-65. The Golden Hurricane’s guard Sam Griffin filled up the stat sheet, picking up 20 points.
The Braves have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 16 point spread they are up against. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 8-1 against the spread when expected to lose.
Alcorn State is now 1-8 while Tulsa sits at 5-5. A couple numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Alcorn State has only been able to knock down 37.80% percent of their shots, which is the second lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. Tulsa has experienced some struggles of their own as they have allowed their opponents to shoot 46% from the floor on average, which is the 29th highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
