Jacksonville State @ No. 6 Alabama
Current Records: Jacksonville State 5-5; Alabama 8-2
What to Know
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. They will square off against the #6 Alabama Crimson Tide at 8:30 p.m. ET this past Saturday at Coleman Coliseum. The Gamecocks will be strutting in after a win while Bama will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Jacksonville State was able to grind out a solid victory over the Florida International Panthers this past Wednesday, winning 66-59.
Meanwhile, the matchup between the Crimson Tide and the Memphis Tigers last week was not particularly close, with Bama falling 92-78. Bama’s loss shouldn’t obscure the performances of guard Keon Ellis, who had 19 points along with six boards, and guard JD Davison, who had eight points and ten assists in addition to five rebounds.
Jacksonville State is the clear underdog, so they’re hoping it’s the size of the fight that determines this one. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with the Gamecocks, who are 5-4 against the spread.
Jacksonville State found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 81-57 punch to the gut against Bama when the two teams previously met in November of last year. Can Jacksonville State avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.
