Gonzaga returns to No. 1 in Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll

Baylor’s five-week reign atop the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll has, for now at least, come to an end. The Bears dropped a pair of Big 12 games at home last week to Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. However, they were hardly alone among upset victims during the week, but they nevertheless fall to No. 6 in the new rankings.

Gonzaga returns to the No. 1 spot where it began the season. The Bulldogs have been putting up big scores at the start of West Coast Conference play and claimed 23 of 32 first-place votes.

Gonzaga’s hold on the top spot isn’t unanimous, however, as Auburn surges to the No. 2 spot picking up eight first-place nods. Arizona climbs three places to No. 3 and grabs the remaining No. 1 vote. Purdue edges Duke by four points for No. 4.

Illinois makes the week’s biggest move, jumping seven places to No. 17. That upward mobility gets an immediate test in Monday matinee clash with No. 4 Purdue.

Colorado State returns to the poll at No. 23, and Loyola-Chicago makes its season debut at No. 24. Tennessee hangs on in a tie for 25th with Connecticut.
